We are proud to announce that You Make It recently won “Social Enterprise of the Year” at the 11th annual Precious Awards in September 2017.

Launched in 2007, The PRECIOUS Awards place a spotlight on a group of women whose successes have been underrepresented by wider society so far. They were founded by Foluke Akinlose MBE to recognise and support women of colour in the business and work environment and create role models for future generations to follow.

In response to receiving this award, our founding CEO, Asma Shah, expressed her gratitude in receiving this award:

“I am immensely proud to be awarded The Social Enterprise of the Year Award. I set up You Make It in frustration and anger that young women of colour in London, a first world city, were wrongly falling through the cracks. It feels great that with my agenda to celebrate and nurture BAME women in particular through You Make It, that it is the Precious award I’ve won – an organisation whose values and ethos entirely align with my charity.”

The awards provide a platform to celebrate the achievements of outstanding female talent across industries, and we are thrilled to receive this recognition for our years of work with women in East London.

Donations help put women through our programme and gifts in kind which help us operate as an organisation.
